  • To create a profitable company in the green economy, it needs more than just a good idea. Besides a lot of expertise and hard work, the support of partners during the foundation process is essential. This is where Green Alley comes into play.

For the fifth time the supporter of start-ups holds the Green Alley Award, a European business competition for circular economy start-ups.

Green Alley is supported by its partners, the German crowdfunding platform Seedmatch, the European Recycling Platform Finland, the UK accelerator Bethnal Green Ventures, H2 Compliance and R2PI, a Horizon 2020 project.

Start-ups that focus on topics such as waste management, recycling or conservation of resources, can apply until 1st July at www.green-alley-award.com for the Green Alley Award 2018. With their green ideas, they can take the opportunity to win a prize package worth up to 30,000 euros.

Meet the winner of the Green Alley Award 2016, Green City Solutions

He shows how worth it was to apply for the Green Alley Award in order to found a business within the circular economy. The German start-up has invented a moss installation combined with an IoT-technology absorbing CO2.  This so-called “City Tree” ameliorates the air quality in cities. By now, City Trees are not only installed in Germany, but also in Italy and China, reducing the air pollution and providing a better climate. See here how Green City Solutions pitched its idea in the finals:

Nowadays, the term “Business as usual” is rather outdated and describes a way of working many people cannot relate to anymore. Especially Millennials question old patterns and establish new concepts. This is an essential step for the creation of a new culture which stands up against the concept of “produce, use and throw away” and which supports the Circular Economy. Conscious consumption and a responsible use of resources is the main topic. Also start-ups focus more and more on sustainable economic activity, a trend which has meanwhile found its way into many companies.
