    EPISODE 3

On this episode of the Circular Metabolism Podcast, we talk with Adrian Hill, the project coordinator of Cities of Making. This project is funded by the Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe and explores what is the role of making in cities and more specifically in Brussels, Rotterdam and London.

With changing attitudes to manufacturing and the advent of great technological inventions ranging from automation, 3Dprinting, Internet of Things, we discuss about what 21stCentury cities should be making. We also elaborate on what type of manufacturing should be protected or brought back to (European) cities, where could they be located, as well as who is likely to be employed in these new type of manufacturing activities.

Finally, we explore the link between urban manufacturing and circular economy and how a productive city could tackle both social and environmental challenges.
