Carlos León tells CEC about his background
“At Sustainn we help companies improve competitiveness and entrepreneurs develop circular business models. We collaborate with training centres to disseminate and build awareness, and we also encourage the implementation of sustainable practices within the public and private sectors.
I was working in wind and renewable energy when I became especially interested in the development of sustainable systems, the Cradle to Cradle design concept, upcycling, and smart utilization of energy resources.
My previous experience includes over 11 years in Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica, first as a Structures Section Leader managing the structures, bolted joints, towers, foundations and offshore substructures design and development. Later I oversaw the technical review of product and technology development projects according to the company’s project development process models.”
Greatest challenges when implementing circularity
“The first challenge is to make the CE easily understandable and implementable to SMEs and make them aware of the advantages of implementing this concept in their products, services, and business models.
Secondly, we need to think about preventing waste during the design stage. In this light, we have to develop practical methodologies and tools to help the product developer and designer avoid waste generation along the product lifecycle.”
