CEC Troyes DIF Viewing Session

This Circular Economy Club event will enable you to view the DIF Festival organized by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and expand your knowledge around what circularity really means and the circular initiatives taking place globally. It is also an opportunity to socialise with other circular economy professionals and brainstorm future projects.

After the viewing of the videos, there will be a networking session for you to interact with circular economy enthusiasts across different sectors and types of organizations. 

At the end of the viewing, you will get a clear idea of the state of the circular economy and will have clear examples to help you explain the circular framework to others. You will also have the chance to learn about what other peers are doing worldwide.

Nov 8 / 13h – Circular Value Creation Architectures: The case of the Smartphone Industry.

The case of the Smartphone Industry. This session will provide first hand insights from our case study in the smartphone industry covering circular activities of OEMs, telco operators, and loop operators in the areas of repair, reuse, remanufacture, and recycle.

Nov 8 /15h – The Plastic Sea Challenge: Applying Biomimicry Design Thinking.

Join this interactive Google Hangout and be ready to start to discover some of the possibilities to design differently and to use inspiration from nature to solve one of the world’s greatest challenges. This will be a step by step lesson in translating the biological strategies and mechanisms from nature into engineering concepts.

Nov 9 / 11h – Creating Circular Economy Products Using Cradle to Cradle® Design.

This session will show how Cradle to Cradle® Design (C2C) plays a critical role within the framework of a circular economy using a variety of historic and current examples, and showcasing examples of new C2C ready products, and their development from conception to market entry.

Nov 15 / 13h – Gig Economy in Perspective: How Platforms Create a More Inclusive Labour Market.

There are many questions today on the long-term viability of gig economy platforms and the ways they tend to become a monopoly and exploit their users. Many people assume that this model of platform monopoly is a given. Discussion around the extractive sides of centralised gig platforms, it is also important to look to the opportunities that platforms create. Many platforms centralise a fragmented and almost invisible labour market.

Nov 16 / 17h – Customer Experiences with Soul: A New Era in Design. 

This talk will look at what happens when you combine the best global design practices with Brazilian heart, Western philosophical insight and timeless Eastern spiritual wisdom. Simon and Maria will introduce a holistic framework for designers, corporate entrepreneurs, creative leaders and those starting a new business or initiative to explore the principles underlying the dynamics of soulful customer experiences. 

Nov 19 / 15h – Ripe for Disruption: Circular Remanufacturing in Building Products.

Remanufacturing makes both economic and environmental sense, and we already have the technical solutions to do it. What’s missing now is a new systemic structure, allowing different stakeholders in cities – manufacturers, engineers, architects, urban miners – to work together and close the building product loop. Watch this session to find out large scale remanufacturing can become a reality.

Nov 20 / 17h – Ecosystems Thinking: From Information to Wisdom.

Following the principles of biological patterns, evolutionary strategies and ecosystems dynamics, 7Vortex is a collaborative platform that provides the ability to capture and share insights in a naturally connected way.

Nov 21 / 13:30h – INTERVAL: Design Solutions for Waste Problems.

INTERVAL fills the interval between waste and usefulness through design. The startup applies design in solving waste problems; Either they find new purposes for existing waste materials, or they redesign processes and materials to match future applications. By doing this, INTERVAL has turned political advertising boards into a public pavilion, repurposed construction materials into fashionable corporate products, and turned biowaste into an organic fashion textile.

Nov 21 / 16h – Daravi: Making to Give Back

Running a factory with the goal of achieving the triple bottom line, Daravi generates products from discards and empowers women from the community by teaching production processes and creating new job opportunities. A certified B-Corp, this session will showcase the project, share the story of an entrepreneurial journey that started in 2009 inside a button factory and has led Daravi towards a scalable approach driving social impact.
