  • Dr. Sarah Miller is a PhD qualified environmental scientist with a degree in biotechnology, a Masters in Business Administration and over 20 years experience in enterprise development. Sarah established the Rediscovery Centre as a small research and education centre in 2005. The Centre has grown to develop four successful social enterprises, Rediscover Fashion, Rediscover Paint, Rediscover Cycling and Rediscover Furniture. The Rediscovery Centre, housed in the re-purposed Ballymun Boiler House, now operates under a strategic partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency, as the National Centre for the Circular Economy.

This clinic is delivered as an interactive group session which includes a review of the Rediscovery Centre’s social enterprise journey, an introduction to design thinking, Q&A and an opportunity to network with like-minded organisations. Sarah will also explain a number of successful funding models and other support services available for social enterprises. After the group session, one to one meetings with Sarah will be available. These meetings can be booked once you have registered for the clinic.

This workshop will be held at the Tyndall National Institute, Cork, with thanks to our hosts at the International Energy Research Centre.

About the Circular Academy Social Enterprise Clinics:

As part of the Circular Economy Academy, Sarah and her colleagues at the Rediscovery Centre will host a series of clinics and workshops throughout the country. During the clinics, the Academy will explore opportunities for social enterprise development and support. Working with individuals and groups interested in creating a new enterprise, or diversifying operations within an established organisation, the Academy will enable the adoption of Circular Economy principles and the transition to low carbon, sustainable living. Clinics include a ‘Discovery’ session identifying opportunities and exploring business ideas as the best entry point for your circular economy journey.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact cemovement@rediscoverycentre.ie.

The Circular Economy Academy is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Waste Prevention Programme.

This event is supported by the Centre for Global Development at University College Cork.
