  • This Masterclass has been jointly developed with the University of Exeter (a Pioneer university in the Ellen MacArthur Foundations network) and supported by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. It is designed to enable professionals in the water sector to understand, implement and derive organisational value from the circular economy principles.

The move towards a circular business model from a water industry perspective

Linear models for water management are economically and environmentally unsustainable in the face of climate change and population growth.

The consensus holds that we already have the technology to transition to a circular economy. If this is the case, why have we not applied circular approaches at scale?

We all have our different reasons and motivations for being interested in the circular economy. The shift from a linear to a circular economy can take many forms and pathways, and raise many challenges and barriers. The Masterclass was developed to contribute to addressing the ‘implementation gap” in translating the principles of the circular economy into everyday practice.

Throughout the Masterclass we provide examples of how some companies and managers have successfully implemented circular economy strategies and new value propositions in different contexts. We will also explore the relationship between the circular economy and sustainable water management.
