    EVENT DESCRIPTION IN ENGLISH

This is the 2nd event of Circular Economy Club Tricity – the local CEC chapter started by Anna Desogus from Circular Together.

    WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR:

    • representatives from the private sector, public sector, NGOs as well as anyone interested in the concept of circular economy in the context of cities

    THE PROBLEM

At both a local and global scale, human activities are putting an increasing pressure on the stable functioning of the world’s ecosystems. This expresses itself in a range of negative impacts, such as biodiversity loss, poor air quality, increased extreme weather events, floods and droughts. As hotspot of consumptions, transport and human interaction, cities are a key leverage point to work towards a more sustainable future.

    THE SOLUTION

As one of the largest cities in central Europe, Gdansk can play a vital role in this transition. The city’s versatile, daring, and open character make the city a perfect site for staring a new, bold endeavor: the transition from a linear to a circular economy.

As part of the Circular Cities Program Poland, Metabolic Institute, Polish Circular Hotpot and Innowo worked with local stakeholders in the cities of Krakow, Lublin and Gdansk to develop circular strategies that bring long-lasting systemic impact. The result of the 1-year process were gathered in a report, that presents the key insights and opportunities for the city of Gdansk in relation to the circular economy. In addition, a vision of how a circular economy could take shape is presented, supported by concrete studies that can be explored.
