While Saudi Arabia is currently the largest economy in the Arab World, with an estimate of GDP to reach over $800 Billion in 2021, its waste diversion rate is less than 4%. There is a direction from the government to move towards a circular economy, especially with its leadership on circular carbon economy announced at the recent G20 summit.
The infrastructure, policies, expertise and market are yet to be developed to enable this movement towards a circular economy.
I believe that this CEC chapter could facilitate a much needed discussion, knowledge sharing platform, and engagements that will be beneficial to the country and even the region.
