OSCE Festival is a promotion of the circular economy with an open source approach. It is a global event started in 2015 and Biji-biji Initative in Kuala Lumpur has organised this festival for the last three years. This year, the festival is preceded by 5 weeks of online content and culminates in a weekend of physical events on 20-21 July 2019.
With help and support of our new collaborators, this extended campaign has allowed us to expand on the content of the technical cycle of the circular economy – not only in designing and making things but also in upcycling, repairing, collecting back, repurposing, and developing new materials. We have also added the topics relating to the biological cycles of the circular economy on board this festival to cover topics relating to circular food systems, agriculture, biomimicry, and natural systems.
We believe that expanding the content to cover more aspects of the circular economy is important since the connection of many loops in various cycles sets no boundaries in the potential solutions and collaborations that can occur when people of different backgrounds come together for a common purpose. We hope this festival will stimulate more discussion and participation in the circular economy among Malaysians and Southeast Asians.
The 5-week online campaign will have a selection of articles, interviews, videos, and weekly newsletters prior to the physical events. On the 2-day physical event days, there will be 1 documentary screening, 3 bicara sessions, 12 workshops and on-loop videos on circular economy featured from DIF 2018 for you to attend.
