In this podcast, Circulate asks Jim Miller, Google’s Vice President of Global Operations, what the circular economy can do for Google.
This podcast was recorded as part of the 2016 Disruptive Innovation Festival that the Ellen MacArthur Foundation organises: thinkdif.co.
In this podcast you will learn how Google is undertaking circular economy initiatives across their operations. Some examples include:
Circular management of hardware in its data centres
According to Circulate, Google “has improved its data centre operations and hardware to gain 3.5 times the computing power out of the same amount of electricity. Since 2007, Google has repurposed enough outdated servers to avoid buying over 300,000 new replacement machines.”
Circular kitchen operations
Google uses a software system in its kitchens to track pre-consumer food waste. Google also implemented a large-scale composting program.
