  • The regional preparatory meeting for the Asia-Pacific Group will be held virtually from 09:00 – 12:00 CET on Friday, 13 November 2020. Login modalities and usage instructions will be provided to those who have been invited in advance of the meeting.
Discussions at the regional preparatory meeting will focus on the following two topics selected by Member States:
Topic 1:  Circular economy as a substantial contribution to addressing the climate crisis and advancing the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Topic 2:  Mobilizing finance, technology and capacity-building to promote circular economy principles and practices in developing countries.
Both topics will be considered together in the course of the meeting. Please structure your interventions so as to address both topics and present your points of view, experiences and recommendations on each, as per the following guiding questions:
    • What do you see as key benefits your country, company or organization can derive from adopting circular economy principles and practices in terms of achieving Sustainable Development Goals and meeting national climate change priorities?
    • Are there successful examples of introducing circular economy principles and practices in your country, company or organization, including policy and regulatory frameworks as well as national, multilateral, bilateral and South-South cooperation initiatives and partnerships?
    • What are the barriers impeding the adoption of circular economy principles and practices in your country, company or organization?
    • What support, including arrangements for access to finance, technology transfer and capacity-building, would your country, company or organization require to enable the adoption of circular economy principles and practices?
Government representatives from UNIDO Member States are invited to make interventions not exceeding 5 minutes to respond to the guiding questions of their choice.
Representatives of observer organizations (industry, private sector, non-governmental organizations, academia, etc.) are invited to make interventions not exceeding 3 minutes.
The use of pre-prepared presentations and information material is discouraged. You may, however, submit your interventions and statements to the secretariat in writing, prior to and within five days after the regional preparatory meeting.
Please contact us at CircularEconomy@unido.org should you have questions or require further information on the regional preparatory meetings or the global consultations on circular economy.
CEC Malaysia is grateful for the invitation
