CIRCULAR ECONOMY CLUB JOHOR BAHRU CO-ORGANISING UPCYCLING OF OCEAN BOUND PLASTICS PROJECT (19 SEPTEMBER 2020 – 19 MARCH 2021)
Johor Bahru — The Circular Economy Club (CEC), the nonprofit international network of more than 4,500 circular economy professionals and organizations in more than 100 countries in 260+ cities is currently implementing more projects via CEC Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur was the first chapter for CEC Malaysia and it was established on 18 April 2019. Since then CEC Malaysia has expanded and includes four other chapters in Petaling Jaya, Penang, Johor Bahru and Penampang, Sabah.
The CEC Johor Bahru chapter announces their collaboration with Heng Hiap Industries, a circular recycler who was recently certified by Control Union as an Ocean Bound Plastic Recycling & Collection Organisation in August 2020 and ImpactLution. The “Upcycling Ocean Bound Plastic Project” which will be launched at Kukup Tanjung Piai Village (Kampung Benteng) on 19 September 2019 will coincide with World Clean Up Day 2020. Other sponsors and partners are the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), SW Corp Malaysia and International Coastal Cleanup.
“The CEC Malaysia chapters empowers circularity supporters with tools to lead circularity efforts in their cities through the development of circular strategies at the local government level. It is only by setting clear objectives that we will be able to track progress and create a world with no waste”.
