Upcycled Bags for the Earth

The Circular Economy Club Malaysia chapters is supporting a campaign on upcycled bags for the earth launched and implemented by SeaMonkey Project.

iii) Whale Shark – spacious tote bag, perfect for carrying your groceries and shopping, from the market or mall.

SOCIAL IMPACTS

Sea Monkey Project supports underserved communities. All of the products are made by hand, in their Community Project Sites located throughout Malaysia and Southeast Asia. 100% upcycled bags are handcrafted by refugees ; these families are registered with UNHCR in Malaysia, but are prevented from accessing legal employment.

Partnered with M.O.A.M.I. ( Making Orang Asli Mothers Independent ) in 2019, by installing a plastic shredder, and injection machine, and teaching the community how to upcycle plastic into valuable products. MOAMI is a community-based volunteer organization, working with indigenous mothers from Orang Asli villages in Malaysia.

Partner with Rumah Hijau – a social project dedicated to nature and sustainability in Tioman Island, Malaysia – in cleaning their island environment.
